Frequently Asked Questions
These are the most common questions we get on a daily basis.
Q
My door will open…but wont close.
First off, see if you are able to bring the door down by keeping the wall button depressed, if so then your safety sensors are mis-aligned, blocked or not working, Please watch the “quick fix video series” on Eye-Beam alignment. If not then it could be a multitude of different problems from RPM sensor to a clutch adjustment, that would also affect the up cycle as well though, but call us first to try a few other tests.
Q
My door only opens a few inches then stops.
This is usually an indicator that the door…for some reason, has become very heavy. First thing to look for would be a broken spring, Please watch the “Quick fix video series” on identifying a broken spring. On a sectional door the springs would be located above the door, on a 1pc door they would be on each side of the door. Start there first.
Q
How do I get an extra remote control for my opener?
First you have to know what machine you have, If it’s a Liftmaster then you need to know what color the program button is, it’s usually located within inches of where the antenna comes down. If its a Genie, then you have to pull down the lens cover and see if there are dipswitch type codes or a black button by the left light bulb, with that info we can get you the remote you need. Or if you still have an existing remote, chances are we’ll have the match in stock.
Q
I have an old opener, can it still be repaired?
Most Liftmaster, Sears Craftsman (Chamberlain) and Genie’s made after 1993 still have parts available, however Crusader and Moore-O-Matic parts have been discontinued. Most machines prior to 1993 were not up to the UL325 safety standards and are not to be repaired. If you are not sure of the age call us with the model number of your machine.
Q
Whats the lead time on new doors?
Most standard doors are in stock, and can be installed within two or three days and on occasion the next day, but anything odd as far as color or panel design or size goes, could be a few weeks.
Q
Do you stock parts?
Yes we do, as a matter of fact we have the largest selection of door and opener parts in San Diego and many of our competitors buy their parts from us. So give us a call, chances are we will have the part you need in stock.
